PORSCHE PANAMERA
PDK SELECTOR SENSOR REPAIR
Diagnosis and replacement of a faulty gear selector position sensor, followed by fresh PDK oil, filter and transmission calibration.
Transmission fault warning.
The Porsche Panamera presented with a transmission fault warning. Diagnostic testing pointed to a problem with the PDK gear selector position sensing system.
Correct diagnosis was important because this fault does not necessarily require removal and complete disassembly of the gearbox.

PDK fault traced to the selector position sensor.
After confirming the transmission fault, the PDK hydraulic control area was accessed to reach the affected gear selector position sensor.

Sensor replaced without removing the complete gearbox.
The faulty gear selector position sensor could be replaced with the transmission remaining in the vehicle, avoiding unnecessary removal and full gearbox disassembly.

Fresh gearbox oil and a new filter.
Following the repair, the PDK was serviced with fresh transmission oil and a new filter before the system was prepared for calibration.

PDK calibration completed after repair.
Diagnostic calibration and adaptation procedures were carried out after reassembly so the transmission could correctly recognise and operate the repaired selector system.
A TRANSMISSION FAULT
DOESN’T ALWAYS MEAN A NEW GEARBOX.
Accurate PDK diagnosis can identify component-level faults and prevent unnecessary gearbox removal or replacement.
Selector sensing restored and PDK calibrated.
With the faulty sensor replaced, fresh PDK oil and filter fitted, and calibration completed, the Panamera was returned to correct transmission operation.
